Atlanta! Teacher Trip

I LOVE this city. In 2018 I was able to go twice. I went in February with my wonderful friend, Nicki and we both attended a teacher conference. We were there for 3 days and 2 nights and the time was perfect. The weather in February was amazing (especially coming from NE).

Nicki and I stayed at the Omni hotel in downtown Atlanta and it was amazinggg. So fancy and the view was so cool.

Nicki and I are both foodies and love try local restaurants. While in Atlanta we tried so many good restaurants! Nicki loved Waffle House, but my favorite place we went to was a place called “Der Berigarten” It was a German rooftop bar and restaurant. The aesthetic of this place was so ambient and beautiful. They also had beers the size of my head, so that was cool too. We got to try “Latkes” Which was new to me, but they were super delicious. I love learning about new cultures and having my students also have an opportunity to learn, so I took the idea of Latkes and turn it into a lesson back at school.

One of my other favorite restaurants had super yummy flatbread pizzas. However, when I went back to Atlanta in the summer, it was closed! So if anyone knows if Flat’s Flatbread Pizza is up and running again, please let me know! Another place I recommend trying is STATS’s bbq, Hudson’s Grill (super yummy drinks, salads, and the fried pickles were to die for! Great ranch too. If you learn anything about Nebraska folk, it’s that we love our ranch!) and Sub Zero Nitrogen Ice Cream shop.

Of course the conference we attend was great, eye opening, and super refreshing from a teaching perspective. It gave me some really awesome ideas to add technology and STEM into my classroom, but it was also so refreshing to be in a new city and seeing things I’ve never seen before!

After this trip, I definitely made plans to go to Atlanta again. There was so much more I wanted to see, like The World of Coke, the Atlanta Aquarium, and most importantly, the College Football Hall or Fame! I was able to go to Atlanta in in June of 2018, but I’ll save that for another post. (:
